A Travel Post

So I’m home! if you follow me on twitter, then you probably already figured out that I was sick while I was away. Being sick on vacation definitely puts a damper on things! I don’t have a single outfit post for you from NYC, but I do want to share a little of my trip!
On Thursday we went shopping at a couple places (including the Rugby store!) and then went to dinner. It was pretty cold, but honestly not as cold as I was prepared to feel! I packed for Alaska! The next day I was sick, but started to feel a little better late afternoon, so we went to Kate Spade and then saw a Madewell store on the way back. I fought the urge for as long as I could, but we went in and I bought some great things! Everything I bought we shipped back, so I don’t have anything to show you yet. But by the time we got ready for dinner that night I was starting to not feel well. I ended up leaving dinner and going back to the hotel :( But I did *make* myself go to the show that night. I was miserable the whole time, but it was worth it to see Sutton Foster and Joel Grey in Anything Goes! Oh and Kelly Bishop! I didn’t know she was going to be in the show, but she was wonderful, of course! Anything Goes is one of my all time favorite musicals so it was really exciting to have the opportunity to see it on Broadway with such incredible performers. Saturday I was starting to figure out that the cabs/subways/elevators were making me sicker! so unfortunately that meant no vintage market for me :( and i started taking the stairs in the hotel (UGH!) but knowing that helped, because i felt SO much better at the show that night. We saw How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying with Beau Bridges and Darren Criss. I’ve actually never seen that show before, but it is one of my mom’s favorites. We listened to the soundtrack a lot when I was a kid, so I knew a lot of the songs already, I just didn’t realize they came from that show! How weird! Anyway, it was wonderful and the crowd was CRAZY. I grew up going to the theatre and this was definitely a new experience for me. The crowd was super young and super loud. On the one hand, I’m glad they came because it means a younger generation getting involved in theatre, but on the other hand it made me feel a little possessive. When the 13 year old girls are screaming like they are at a Jonas Brothers Concert it does feel like they aren’t truly appreciating it. But I guess that’s how you get them involved. All in all it was a good trip. It obviously had some disappointments and inconveniences (SO SO SO sad I didn’t get to see Adam and Jason), but I am glad I got the chance to go.
P.S. I hope you enjoyed the guest bloggers! Weren’t they the coolest? I’ll be back tomorrow with an outfit post, but I am glad you guys had some company while I was away! See you soon, lovies!
