Today’s Outfit: Dreaming in Color

5.10.12

Whoa. Is it really May 10th? Man, I have a lot of projects to finish before summer school starts. So this morning I tried a new technique for making hair wavy and it did not go well at all. :( Pinterest keeps letting me down. I’m sure that won’t keep me from trying though. I have about a billion more DIYs to try, so many I’ll be successful on at least one of them. In fact, I may try one for tonight.  I am babysitting soon and then I have to hurry hurry hurry downtown to see The Producers with my parents. I’m very excited.  It’s one of my favorite shows.

Are any of you other Hattiesburgers going to be there tonight? If so, be sure to say hi! Ok, well I better go get ready!

Event in Action, Part II

So now that I’ve shown you a taste of how much work goes into an event, I want to share a little bit of the actual event with you guys! I had so much fun attending Spirit of Women’s Spring event!  It was great visiting with other women from Hattiesburg as well as hearing the Bush twins, Jenna and Barbara Bush share a little of their passions with us.  I can’t wait to attend my next Spirit of Women event!

Event In Action

This past week I had the great opportunity to watch an event come together.  It was so neat to get a behind the scenes look at exactly how much work goes in to planning an event of this size! It was so incredible to watch the Hattiesburg Hall at the Lake Terrace Convention Center literally transform before my eyes! However, I think my favorite part of this adventure was getting to watch Catherine Strange of Fearless Entertaining work her magic!  I can’t wait until her next speaking engagement for Spirit of Women so that I can learn all her secrets!

I also got a sneak peek into how Millie Swan, Chief Marketing and Medical Staff Services Officer at Forrest General Hospital, put her outfit together for this event! We stopped by John White, Ltd. for her to try on her dress and finish alterations!

And here she is in her perfectly altered (and color coordinated) dress with her lovely daughter, Zoe

Today’s Outfit: What I Wore to Meet Jenna & Barbara Bush!

4.26.12

When I tried this outfit on in the Michael Kors Outlet store over spring break I knew it would be perfect for today!  Speaking of today, I have so much to share with you guys! I had such a great time taking pictures at today’s Spirit of Women event! I can’t wait to get all my photos of the setup finished so you all can see the room! It was beautiful (of course).

I really enjoyed getting to hear the former First Daughters Jenna and Barbara Bush speak today.  They are so passionate about their work and that is always inspiring to be around.  It reminded me to use this blog more for helping women learn to love themselves and their bodies.  I know I talk about that a lot, but I really want to come up with new ways to incorporate it.  It is so unfortunate that we aren’t taught to love ourselves from an early age.  Even grown women still haven’t learned how, and unfortunately that just means the next generation won’t either.  I really want to get more involved in reminding us that we are beautiful, unique, and worth SO MUCH MORE than our physical appearance or a number!  It is something I’ve encountered a lot recently when photographing certain events.  Sometimes it seems like all we know how to do is hate our bodies!  I am so ready for this cycle to stop!!  So I need yalls help coming up with some ways to incorporate this into the blog and help change the way we see ourselves.
